I am Full Professor and Chair of Food Supply Chain Management at University of Bayreuth. My research fields include logistics, supply chain management and related model-driven decision support systems to investigate and optimize delivery processes, particularly for food and humanitarian logistics operations.
Career Path and Job History
My academic career started at University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU University), where I did a PhD focusing on scheduling and routing of home health care services. Additionally, I was involved in various third-party funded projects investigating humanitarian logistics activities, mostly related to flood responses. During my post-doctoral phase, I started focusing on food logisitcs operations with a particular attenton to time criticality and food quality aspects related to distribution decisions. This work was continued and intensified at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business, where I further got in close contact with various business analytics aspects.
In 2021, I got appointed as a W3 professor to University of Bayreuth. Since 2022, I further act as Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Life Sciences: Food, Nutrition and Health. Previously, I was head of the study program Food and Health Sciences. I spend various times aborad, teaching and conducting research, among others, in Finland and Spain. Additionally, I currently act as a Guest Lecturer in Food Supply Chain Management at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business.
Education
I hold a Habilitation in Business Administration and a doctoral degree in Social and Economic Sciences from University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU) as well as a master’s degree in Supply Chain Management and a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from WU Vienna University of Economics and Business.
